Not registered, or moved? You can register and vote the same day at the Clerk's offices in Geneva and Aurora, at the five other permanent early-voting sites from Oct. 19, or at any polling place on Election Day.
Election Day: Tuesday, Nov. 3
Polls are open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. In Kane County you can vote at any of the 72 polling places, no matter where you live in the county. If you're in line at 7 p.m., you can still vote. Enter your address in the guide above to find the polling places nearest you.
Voting by mail
Applications for a mail ballot must reach the County Clerk's office by Thursday, Oct. 29. Apply online.
Return your ballot by mail, postmarked by Election Day; it must arrive by Nov. 17. Or use one of the Clerk's three drop boxes. Two are inside the Clerk's offices in Geneva and Aurora, open on early-voting days and from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Election Day; the guide above lists each box's hours. The third is inside the City of Elgin's building, 150 Dexter Court, open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays through Election Day.
Asked for a mail ballot but changed your mind? The Clerk says you must bring the ballot with you to vote in person.
If there's a problem with your ballot's envelope, the Clerk's office will contact you; you have 14 days after the election, until Tuesday, Nov. 17, to fix it. Questions: 630-232-5990.
What to bring
